ROTHBURY, Mich. - The 2009 Rothbury music festival is on for the July 4th weekend.
Rothbury took place over four days early last July at the Double JJ Ranch and Resort in Rothbury. The first event attracted over 40,000 people.
Rothbury 2009 organizers publicly announced on Monday February 9th that Rothbury 2009 the “green”-themed festival will go on despite the financially troubles of the Double JJ Resort July 3-5.
The Double JJ filed for Chapter 11 federal bankruptcy protection after last year’s festival due to millions in unpaid bills not related to the event.
Rothbury 2009 Organizers didn’t identify the artists that will be performing or release ticket information.
The 2008 show had more than 70 acts, including John Mayer, the Dave Matthews Band and Snoop Dogg.
Railroad Earth is playing Rothbury Music festivla and will be sure to rock!! A roots and Americana-based jam band from Sparta, New Jersey. According to Wikipedia their name stems from a Jack Kerouac poem “October in the Railroad Earth,” and the band has a song by the same name. Railroad Earth’s music combines elements of bluegrass, rock and roll, jazz, celtic and more, and the group is known for its extensive live improvisation and lyrical songwriting within an acoustic base. Railroad Earth is a perfect match to the lineup at Rothbury Music Festival.
Playing at Rothbury Music Festival is Widespread Panic a southern jam band from Athens, Georgia. The band lineup consists of guitarist/singer John Bell, bassist Dave Schools, drummer Todd Nance, percussionist Domingo “Sunny” Ortiz, keyboardist John “JoJo” Hermann, and guitarist Jimmy Herring.
The band has played as many as 250 shows a year, and have ranked among the top 50 grossing touring acts for eight years running, doing so without much radio airplay, television exposure, or promotion. The band holds sellout records at:
• Red Rocks Amphitheatre near Denver (23 shows),
• Oak Mountain Amphitheatre near Birmingham, Ala. (17 shows),
• Philips Arena in Atlanta (17 straight sold-out New Year’s Eve/New Year’s Eve Eve shows), and
• UNO Lakefront Arena in New Orleans (18 shows). ………….and hopefully Rothbury Music Festival
